Straightforward guidance on planning tuition, arranging the stay and what happens when you contact us.

Understanding residential tuition

What is a residential tutor?

A residential tutor stays at your home or another agreed residence and teaches at defined times. A placement can last a week, a fortnight, a term or longer. We shape the programme and coordinate tutor sourcing.

Can I book a residential tutor for just one week or two weeks?

Yes. One-week and two-week stays can focus on revision, a subject or study habits. Share your UK location, dates and priorities; a term or academic-year commitment is not required.

What is the difference between a residential tutor and a visiting tutor?

A residential tutor stays at the property for an agreed period; a visiting tutor attends individual sessions. Residential tuition can provide a consistent routine over consecutive days. Working hours and supervision are agreed separately.

Can we arrange residential tuition at a country home or UK holiday house?

Yes. Tuition can take place at your main home, a country residence or a UK holiday property. Share the nearest town or county, dates and accommodation available so we can discuss the brief.

Can a residential tutor help with GCSE or A-level revision?

Yes. A stay can combine subject revision, examination practice and study planning. Share the qualification, subjects, boards, dates and priorities so we can explore relevant tutor expertise.

Can residential tuition be arranged over Easter or half-term?

Yes. Easter, half-term and other holidays can accommodate a defined stay. We plan the focus and timetable around examination needs, subject goals and the family time you want to keep free.

Planning the stay

How many hours a day does a residential tutor teach?

Hours depend on age, goals and concentration. A day might include morning teaching, independent practice and feedback. Teaching, preparation and time off are agreed before the stay; residence does not mean continuous availability.

What accommodation does a residential tutor need?

The tutor needs private accommodation, bathroom access, meals and a quiet teaching space. Reliable internet may be needed for school resources. Tell us what is available so practical arrangements can be agreed.

Can one residential tutor teach more than one child?

Possibly, where subjects, stages and timetables are compatible. Separate sessions may suit siblings needing individual attention. We consider whether one tutor or several subject specialists best fit the brief.

Can a residential tutor support a child between schools?

Yes. Tuition can provide continuity between schools and preparation for the next curriculum. Share the likely gap, current studies and next step. Relevant requirements for full-time education at home must also be resolved.

How much does residential tuition cost?

Weekly tuition starts from £1,500 per week. The quotation confirms teaching hours, subjects and any travel, accommodation or additional charges. Full-time salaried tutor roles range from £45,000–£180,000 per year; other appointment costs are confirmed separately.

How far in advance should we arrange a residential tutor?

Contact us once you know likely dates, location and goals. Early enquiries allow more choice, especially around school holidays. For urgent requests, share the deadline and any flexibility so we can check availability.

Does a residential tutor provide childcare or round-the-clock supervision?

Childcare, driving and supervision outside lessons are included only if expressly agreed. The placement plan defines teaching, preparation, time off and who is responsible for the children at other times.

Your enquiry & tutor supply

Who manages my enquiry, and who supplies the residential tutor?

Residential Tutors, owned by Clear Group Limited, receives and manages your enquiry. We discuss the educational and household requirements and coordinate the search. The tutor is sourced from our extensive tutor and partner network.

How do you identify the right tutor for a residential stay?

We consider subjects, learning style, interests, dates and household arrangements. We discuss the proposed tutor’s relevant experience and personal fit, with an introductory conversation where helpful.

What checks are made before a tutor stays in our home?

We seek confirmation of identity, references, relevant qualifications, applicable background checks and safeguarding arrangements from the relevant tutor or partner. We explain what is confirmed and the contact arrangements before you commit.

What happens after I make an enquiry?

We discuss your brief, coordinate the tutor search and present options. The timetable, costs, responsibilities and terms are confirmed before commitment.

Can I enquire without agreeing to share my details with a tutor-supply partner?

Yes. Clear Group Limited can discuss your requirements first. Before sharing personal details, we name the proposed tutor or partner, explain the purpose and ask for separate permission. The initial enquiry does not authorise disclosure.

People, programmes & ongoing support

Can a family office or personal assistant arrange tuition?

Yes. An authorised family office, personal assistant or adviser can coordinate the enquiry. Use your own contact details, outline the educational brief and identify the decision-maker. Permission to arrange tuition is separate from permission to share personal information.

Can we speak to a tutor before deciding?

Yes. An introductory conversation can be arranged, subject to availability, to discuss teaching style, interests and expectations. Relevant experience, checks and the placement terms are also confirmed before commitment.

Who supports us once tuition has started?

Residential Tutors remains your coordination contact. Before the stay, we agree the tutor’s responsibilities, review arrangements, contact availability and scope of ongoing support. You will know who to contact about teaching, practical matters or concerns.

What happens if the tutor is unavailable or the arrangement is not working?

Contact us promptly. We review the concern and explore adjustments, rearranged sessions or an alternative tutor. Availability and the agreed terms determine replacement, cancellation and fees; immediate cover is not guaranteed.

How will progress be reviewed?

Reviews consider work completed, understanding, independent-study habits and the next priorities. Before tuition starts, agree who provides updates, how often and whether a written summary is included.

What will the quotation include?

The quotation sets out teaching hours, programme scope, the parties involved and all applicable charges. It explains how consultancy, travel, accommodation, meals and resources are handled, plus payment and cancellation terms. Full-time salary figures are shown separately from other appointment costs.

Can you consider tutors for a child with dyslexia or other learning needs?

Yes. We discuss the educational brief and explore relevant tutor experience. Specialist training and suitability are confirmed individually. Please keep the initial enquiry broad; sensitive reports can be considered later through an agreed route.

Can the programme focus on confidence as well as academic work?

Yes. Confidence, motivation and independent-study habits can sit alongside subject goals. We discuss practical objectives and a teaching approach suited to your child, then agree how progress will be reviewed.

Who leads the educational approach?

Dominic brings over ten years’ experience guiding families and building bespoke education programmes, with a background in senior independent-school and education leadership roles. His approach combines academic planning, tutor selection and programme oversight. Clear Group Ltd is the company contact.

Will we receive an end-of-stay report?

A written summary can be included by agreement. It may cover work completed, strengths and next steps. Confirm the format before the stay; any school handover also needs agreed responsibilities and permission to share information.

How much does a full-time salaried tutor cost?

Full-time salaried tutor roles range from £45,000–£180,000 per year, depending on experience, responsibilities and location. This is the tutor’s annual salary. The proposal confirms any additional appointment, programme-management, travel or accommodation costs.

An enquiry starts a conversation. Availability, responsibilities and costs are confirmed in a written proposal before you commit.
